| Nestled in the Mark Twain Forest, in the heart of the Ozarks; the Regimental Military Police Memorial Grove is located at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, the Army's location for the Maneuver Support Center, and he home of the Military Police corps Regiment. Originally established at Fort Gordon, Georgia in 1969, the memorial consisted of a single plaque that read, "In Fervent Hope that Our Fallen Comrades will Never be Forgotten." The memorial was moved to Fort McClellan, Alabama in October 1976, In September 1999, the memorial Grove was moved to its present location. |
Today, the Regimental Military Police Memorial Grove houses 25 additional plaques and a separate memorial in honor of Brigadier General David H. Stem. These plaques serve to recognize discontinued Military Police units that conducted various operations around the world. |
The Regimental Military Police Memorial is dedicated to all members of the Military Police Corps who gave their lives to further the Military Police mission world-wide and to preserve the freedom of our country. It consists of a large stage area with a handsome brick facade to its rear making it ideal for graduation exercises, orientation classes, rites of passage ceremonies, chapel service and memorial services. |
